October is such a fun month if you do thematic teaching. Students LOVE all things Halloween, and so does this teacher! I wanted to round up some of the fun activities I have planned for this month. I got everything below from Oriental Trading – they are my go to for seasonal supplies because they already come in packs for classes instead of buying all the materials separately. Most of these activities can be “rewards” for your students to earn, which makes them even better!
In our daily schedule, I set aside time after we eat breakfast to do “fine motor tubs.” Some of the activities remain consistent every day, but I like to switch up seasonal tasks to keep things engaging and interesting. A lot of my students are just beginning to write or show control with smaller objects, so I really value this time to work on those fine motor skills that will help them gain the strength for writing!
This month, I added these match color scratch ornaments from Oriental Trading. They came in pumpkins, bats, ghosts, and black cats. After included them this month, I can tell you I will be grabbing these EVERY MONTH.
After introducing them to my students on Monday, I had a few of my friends work to earn these throughout the day. #teacherwin
I also added some bead activities to our fine motor tubs. I got the Halloween color pony beads from Oriental Trading because I knew I would have a TON of beads to work with. I can do A LOT with 1,000 pony beads.
I set up a few sorting stations and of course we made a cute spider craft.
They got to take their own spiders home, but I kept one for daily practice.
Check out how CUTE these spiders turned out!
I also grabbed a few games to play during indoor recess or just during break time.
Please note: While I did receive these item at no cost, all opinions in this post are 100% my own.
I have one little guy that is obsessed with this Jack-O-Lantern can toss game. He is working on counting, so I love that I can incorporate that while he thinks he just playing a game.
Another class favorite is this candy corn bowling game. When I ordered them, I thought it was an inflatable game and I was so excited when my order came and they were make from durable plastic. It is so easy to set up the pins, so I don’t have to do it for my students.
Of course I had to get this spider toss game. My kiddos love it!
What are you favorite Halloween activities for the classroom?
