Free Pizza Unit for Preschool, Kindergarten, or Special Education

What is a great theme your students are sure to love? PIZZA! Read more to find out how to download our Made For Me Literacy Free Pizza Unit for your Preschool, Kindergarten, or Special Education Classroom. Because we love pizza, why not dedicate an entire week of lessons to it? If you love pizza as much as we do, then please enjoy our FREE pizza unit you can use any time during the school year.

Firstly, we know that our year long Made For Me Literacy Curriculums can be quite the investment! To help you get a better idea of the activities included in our MFML units, we’ve created some free mini-units so you can see an example of common activities and tasks we include. At this time, we now have FIVE free units you can download!

Free Pizza Unit Story Time Comprehension Activities

To accompany the perfect pizza read aloud, “Little Red Hen Makes a Pizza,” by Philemon Sturges, you’ll get our story map cards, adapted book pieces, comprehension questions, and yes/no questions.

Pizza Crafts

Following the read aloud comes the crafts! Crafts are a great way to incorporate fine motor skills into the week. In the free pizza unit, you’ll get visual directions and templates for two fun pizza crafts! Students create their own paper plate pizza with lots of fun toppings and they make a slice of pizza that they label with toppings. Display the two crafts using the bulletin board letters included in the unit.

Pizza Predictable Chart and Labeling Craft

Predictable charts are a great way to cover pre-reading skills for early learners. In this activity, students write a sentence about their favorite pizza topping. They match their sentence with a piece of pizza craft with those toppings. At the end of the week, throw all the pages together to make a pizza class book.

Pizza Visual Recipe

Being that no pizza unit would be complete without enjoying real pizza, we give you a visual recipe for fun Friday! At the end of the week, enjoy making delicious english muffin pizzas using the visual recipe found in the unit. Cooking in the classroom is great for working on life skills such as following a recipe, measuring, and cleaning up afterwards. Even so, we sneak in a little comprehension and sequencing as well with our recipe sequencing visuals and reflection sheet.

Pizza Task Boxes, File Folders, and Cut and Paste Activities

Increase independence and enhance basic math and literacy skills with these tasks that can prepped as task boxes OR file folders – your choice! This mini freebie unit contains 2 math and 2 ELA tasks, each with two levels of difficulty. These differentiated cut-and-paste activities are a great way to assess student knowledge, promote independence, and practice fine motor scissor skills.
