My New Love = Adapted Books

Okay, so I know I am still learning all the Autism ins and outs, but I have found my newest obsession.. Adapted Books!

My kids love them, and I love making them! πŸ™‚
Here are three new books I just posted to TPT for my students that are beginning readers/non-writers to complete.

Also, have you ever thought of turning some of your classroom library books into adapted books for your students? GASP.. I know the thought of altering beautiful books with velcro and lamination is mind blowing, BUT it’s kind of genius.

I stumbled upon this idea on Pinterest from Adventures with ABA in Autistic Support and I cannot wait to do this to my 10 Little Dots book (& probably every book I get my hands on!!!).

I know what I’ll be doing this weekend…

Happy Friday Friends! πŸ™‚

I share your love of adapted books for my kiddos! Have you seen the list of printable adapted books at the Paul V. Sherlock Center on Disabilities? It's through Rice University. There are hundreds of books – many are well know books that have been made into an adapted version! https://www.ric.edu/sherlockcenter/wwslist.html

Here's another great freebie resource: https://schools.nyc.gov/Offices/District75/Departments/Literacy/AdaptedBooks/default.htm. There are TONS of free adapted books here πŸ™‚
